In a world where anybody on Earth can have a fan club, all fans feel the person they get high energy about deserves ALL the recognition in the world. Too bad the Grammy Nominating Committees doesn’t share that same empathy. Last night the 2012 Grammy Nominations were revealed and many were flabbergasted to see their favorite with practically no recognition for their work.
One Beyoncé fan (view his video here) decided to attack the Rihanna Navy because Rihanna was nominated for Album of the Year and Beyonce wasn’t. Songwriter/Producer The-Dream, who played a big part in Beyonce’s latest album ‘4,’ felt the pain in his tweet “#4SNUBBED.”
R&B Singer/Songwriter Miguel tried to stay calm, “Damn, this really hurts. Congrats to all the nominees.” he said before coming back with a full Twitter rant. ” I’m Fucking Pissed Yo. I don’t think I’m Gods gift to music but I know the Album or at LEAST Sure Thing should have been Nominated. All G. I’ll Work Harder Then. BET.”
Jill Scott joins the list of snubs. She first expressed concern for Miguel being jacked. Then came back with her own rant:
“0 nominations. I’m speechless. Cover of Billboard, #1 cd in the country, tied/broke the record for Urban radio. Ok…so…ok. Wow. I don’t need a Grammy. I deserve it & I’m clear on that. The Light of the Sun was/is magical . We were lifted & filled w/ truth. I *heart* it.”
Jill Scott’s ‘Music of the Sun’ TO ME was not all that great. But I’m glad she shares my feelings about the travesty that has happened to Miguel. All I Want Is You was definitely one of the best R&B albums this past year and his single ‘Sure Thing’ has touched too many charts to not be at least be given a nomination. Kelly Price is nominated for Best R&B Song and Best R&B Album while I can honestly say I haven’t heard her new material. Same goes for this “Fool For You” listed in Best R&B Song.
Since I’m a Beyonce fan it goes without saying that Beyonce deserves nominations for Album of the Year, ‘Best Thing I Never Had’ for Record of the Year, ‘Girls’ for Best Pop Performance, and on and on. She may be the black sheep of the 2012 ceremony. But with 16 Grammys in tow and 2nd in most nominations ever (44, Dolly Parton has 45) y’all already know who run the world.
