“African American voters are going to be extremely important in this election,” says a speaker on the car radio hoping gay marriage will fail at the polls. “Many of whom are ‘vout Christian who may be inclined to not vote for same sex marriage because of messages from their churches that they should oppose it.”
The Mormon, Catholic, and Evangelical churches between the years of 2008 until same-sex marriage twirled through the Supreme Court in 2015 needed allies, strong ones. Who more silly to stand with in their belief of “traditional” marriage than the Black church? Just like it’s always been for hundreds of years, a White man shows up with money and the Black people entertain, doing exactly as they’re told.
