Gay Encyclopedia ‘WikiQueer’ is Here!

FINALLY! A place where gays and nosy straight women can get their daily dose of gay history. After a year of beta testing the good people at WikiQueer have officially launched a uber fabulous research encyclopedia.

“I’ve helped with dozens of pages and projects on Wikipedia and helped start a number of wikis designed for queer-related projects,” WikiQueer founder and lead administrator Gregory Varnum tells G Philly Magazine. “However, I consistently came back to the need for a wiki by and for the queer community free of any organization politics or turf wars.”

Now, when you want more info on LGBT rights activists, popular social topics like Prop 8 or gay teen suicide, you have a source with some real backbone. OutHistory and the Movement Advancement Project have joined the project to add photos and information while collaborations with Campus Pride, Family Equality Council and the Harvey Milk Foundation are still in the works. GAY PRIDE FOREVER!!
