GAYS GET READY: Theater Release of ‘Blackbird’ is April 2015!

Nationwide slaying of the festival circuit is complete and Patrik-Ian Polk is finally ready to premiere ‘Blackbird‘ on the big screen. In the film Isaiah Washington, Mo’Nique, and Julian Walker tell the story of a 17-year-old boy in Hattiesburg, Mississippi finding his sexuality while dealing with the conservative mess that goes on in the Bible belt.

I highly recommend supporting this on April 24, 2015 as we all know first week numbers are important for the movie business. Press play and tickle your senses of what’s to come. That threesome scene looked kinda hot!

As a heterosexual black man preparing to be married I am gonna go see this for three reason

I try to base my life off the love of God and not by being perfect but by steady seeking his will

I have numerous associattes who are not like me but that kind of what is the o my thing that makes us different is out choice of sexuality

And three I really like good movies that will evoke raw emotion

        Can’t wait to be enlighten!

very well said. I to am a black Gay man who loves the lord and I know he loves me too. God don’t make mistakes and I know I was created with a purpose to help save souls just like me. I think this movie will be a very good movie and I can wait to see it. I love who am because God had given the power to love to express love and be genuine about it, and I’m not talking about sex I’m talking about Godly love that is felt thought the spirit of a person and resonates In the heart.

Exactly, all of America needs to GET READY! Look at this movie with an open heart and mind. Review how most personal beliefs about homosexuality and humanity and put it into test it and see if all the negativity and hate is justified in God’s word.

Fortunately Nichole it is sustainable if people only chose to open their eyes and hearts and not be lead by inaccurate and hateful rhetoric.

Wow this is the first trailer to ever resonate with my personal beliefs. If it’s not for you don’t watch. I personally will go to whatever theatre twice to see this and buy the dvd/download so storylines like this will be told as freely as everyone else’s external/internal battles. WOW! #Blackbirds

Yeeeah I was thinking the same thing. Love and respect him down but his movies have a tendacy to be very Tyler Perry, which is cool but due to the subject I feel like the movie has to be perfectly executed

Absolutely classic John Woo action. This might be better than even “The Killer.” I picked it up a few years back on DVD and often show it to friends who are skeptical of Woo, having only seen his Hollywood work. I’ve heard his epic “Red Cliff” from 2008 is also exceptional.

I will be watching. Love Ian polk. Great writer and storynteller.
I don’t see this as a gay movie, I see this as an opportunity for non gay
People to see that most people who are gay and wrestle
With the emotional conflict of LIVING and wanting to
Keep living. All we ever wanted was to love and be loved
By God and by people. Something about love that covers.

This is wrong. Please don’t give into the deception that homosexuality is acceptable in God’s eyes. Those struggling with these desires please to not lie to yourself. He said very plainly that it is an abomination. It utterly disgusts him. He can set you free.

Lord I pray for Diana Freed as she is blind to the love of Jesus, that ALL people are created lovingly in your image. Stop the hating Diana – God is a loving God.

He is love. He also hates many things. For example, God hates pride (Proverbs 8:13). There are many activities the God of the bible instructs us to stay away from because he absolutely detests them. To say God accepts homosexuality is insanity because in the bible he says he hates it. If your views of God do not align with his word then the God you are describing is not the God of the bible. There are other spirits that claim to be the almighty. Their opinions on subjects are different from his. However, he made his views on homosexuality clear in his word.

I watched a trailer of this movie and found it to be very disturbing, I have a question why is it that every “BLACK MOVIE” that is put out we have to put it out on the basis of Religion why cant a movie be created, produced for black people without it being a Christian base movie, when I watched this movie all I got was this young man is coming into himself and experienced some Things that he wasn’t sure of and Black Mama didn’t approve and included “JESUS” you know what every time there’s a issue in a black family we start this Jesus campaign have the people that are quoting the Bible either never read it or don’t know how it came in existence Black People stop accepting moving just because it has a African Cast……..Stop I wouldn’t watch it.

    February 26, 2015 at 7:01 pm

I am going to see this movie with my best friend who is gay, I support him always I don’t care what it is. Recently my boyfriend told me that he is not allowed in our home because he brings demons. I don’t understand what he is saying. Being that I am a person who tries never to judge, I just feel like this man is telling me that my friend being around is making him feel gay. If so say that and be who you really are… Don’t try and alienate my best bud because your azz is on the fence.

You don’t know how good it feels to see and know that there are other brothers, people out there who know and understand the concept that, just because you were taught something, it doesn’t mean that it’s correct. Which is why I’m not a religious person, yet I am a very spiritual brotha. I have tried to get folk to challenge what it is that they’ve been taught and think for themselves, even had these discussions with my loving mother, whom I am very close to. Though when it comes to religion and sexuality, that’s one place we lose our culture.. Now, I know and hear people witness to GOD being the only perfect and flawless being, yet some consider homosexuality a mistake and not being of GOD, Yet that within itself is a total contradiction. If I am of GOD and HE has made me who I am, because trust me, this is no CHOICE, hell, who would choose to be ostracized, looked down upon and hated by folk.. If we all could, we would have been prayed the gay away.. It isn’t happening.. So, do you, who say you’re Christians, yet judge and hate on the very brothers and sisters our GOD has created, think THE ALMIGHTY has made a mistake now, think about that!

Saw it and was COMPLETELY underwhelmed. Another story about a young Black SGL man who isn’t accepted in his community but is miraculously rescued by the one European American male for miles and miles around. The director played around with race in a way that it isn’t portrayed in the book and in doing so perpetuated the dominant narrative of European gays being the only salvation for tortured Black SGL men.
