Is it bad I thought Titanic still held reign to the biggest opening numbers? I’m so damn tardy for the party. Well, apparently before this weekend the crown belonged to Batman: The Dark Knight with $158.4 million. Read below to see how much Harry Potter: Deathly Hallows Part II will make though:
Capping the most successful film franchise in history, Warner Bros.’ Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 conjured up the top opening of all time at the domestic box office, grossing a staggering $168.6 million.
International numbers weren’t immediately available, but once they come in, Deathly Hallows 2 should also be able to claim the top launch of all time at the worldwide box office.
…and to think J. K. Rowling was homeless when she wrote the first Harry Potter book! Now, she’s had a successful book and movie series. I hope she been saving that money and not blowing it on gold chains, cars, and strippers!
