QUESTION: What if your Food Server was HIV positive? - Justin Terry Smith HIV+ Server

Justin Terry-Smith, an HIV+ man, takes us around Washington, DC as he asks people what their reaction would be if they were in a restaurant and found out the person serving their food is HIV positive. One man bluntly says, “I wouldn’t give a fuck.” Another man says ‘unless they’re bleeding or unless we’re having sex during the meal it really shouldn’t matter.’ Justin also talks to restaurant owners and asks if there are laws that specifically reference HIV+ employees and the food industry. Let’s take a look:

My only concern is body fluids. As long as the person isn’t bleeding or slobbing over my plate (things they shouldn’t be doing anyway) I really don’t see a problem with it. I’m kind of glad the American Disabilities Act covers HIV+ people, too. Lawd knows, all “the man” needs is another reason to hold you down. And, being HIV+ really isn’t even a disability. You still have all the major functions! But, this is the part where I hand the mic to you and ask:

What would you do if you were in this situation?
